Cassis – Ben Sarek
$26.00
A truly hardy black currant variety, the Ben Sarek cassis will tolerate zones between 3 and 7. It will grow in a compact bush reaching a max diameter of 1 meter which makes it ideal for smaller gardens or for hedges. It is also known for its disease resistance, notably to powdery mildew and white pine blister rust.
The fruits grow in vine cluster and will be ready for harvest late June to mid July. The leaves are also wonderfully aromatic when crushed. They are wonderful in jams, sauces, or eaten fresh!
It prefers a well drained soil with a pH between 6-7.
