Description
Yuzu is a smallish evergreen citrus tree sometimes used in Japanese cuisine. Relatively easy to grow in garden pots, (cannot survive Canadian winter outside), Yuzu can produce fragrant blossoms and colorful, unique tasting fruit.
Grow in a well-draining pot, with rich loamy soil, in full sun (part sun is okay, but less fruit will grow). Can be placed outside in summer. For a plentiful harvest, regularly provide a fertilizer rich in nitrogen and lye during growing season. Fruit should be ready to pick between October and December. Prune only after all of the fruit has been harvested. This plant prefers to be cool in winter, but not freeze. Water sparingly in winter.
